Creating Your Own Calligraphy Fonts

There are a number of websites and programs that give you the ability to create your own fonts. I'll explore a number of them here. More will be added as I discover or try new ones, so check back now and again.

Fontstruct

Here's a free font creator program. I tried it out recently and within about half an hour had created a very simple alphabet of upper and lowercase letters.

All you have to do is go to the Fontstruct website, sign yourself in, and start playing with the program. They have instructions that are fairly easy to follow.

Check out their Gallery. As you will see, there are some fairly detailed letters there, so there is certainly potential with this font creator.

When you've finished creating your font, you have the option to download the file to your computer and then you can install the font to your own computer.

This program allows you to keep your fonts private, or you can share them with others for free, or ... I think this program also allows you to sell your fonts.
