Graffiti & Calligraphy

We have a railway route that runs through our town. Every now and then when I find myself watching a train go by, I notice that there is always graffiti on at least some of the cars.

More often than not, I find myself wishing that I had my camera with me. Why? Because some of what I see is really beautiful and very interesting. I'm quite intrigued by some of the designs and letter forms I see there.

So I was interested when I found this link to a pdf copy called Graffiti World - Street Art From Five Continents. There are over 2000 illustrations of street art in this copy, so you may find some inspiration here somewhere.

I also recently came across this interesting article - Crossing Over: When A Calligrapher Meets A Graffiti Artist.

For example, do you know why there is so much Blackletter art in the graffiti and tattoes of the gangs? This article will tell you.
